so i love finding really long strings of katakana in wikipedia articles. essentially, katakana are the characters the japanese use to represent english phrases (they sometimes just leave it in english, but it might not be read/pronounced properly, of course).
when you read katakana out loud, it’s basically like you’re speaking in english with a japanese accent built in. i highly suspect all of masi oka’s heroes scripts are written in katakana. i couldn’t keep up that fobby accent.
here’s an example:
english: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers
katakana: ファイナルファンタジークリスタルクロニクル: クリスタルベアラー
read as: Fainarufantajikurisutarukuronikuru: Kurisutarubeara
yes, yes. especially with all these English words like フライングマン (Frying Man) and チアリーダーを救え!(Save the Cheerleader!)
